Recent Addition : TVC Doctor Aphra

The newest acquisition to my ever growing Star Wars collection is Doctor Aphra from The Vintage Collection line. Doctor Aphra is part of the Marvel Star Wars universe who made her first appearance in issue #3 of the Darth Vader comic series. Based on her popularity, she now has her own on-going monthly series.

One of the things I have enjoyed about Star Wars collecting over the years, is when Hasbro makes Star Wars figures based on characters from books, comic books, and video games. To me, it's like your favorite characters from these mediums getting that extra little nod of acknowledgement. So when I see these guys, I usually like to scoop them up right away. Doctor Aphra was the winner of Hasbro's Fan Choice Poll in 2017 which earned her a spot as part of the Vintage Collection line. The figure was also released as a SDCC 2018 exclusive with her two droids from the Marvel Star Wars comic series.

Doctor Aphra's only accessories are her blaster and removable vest, but she is still is one fantastic figure. The sculpting and extra details on her honestly makes it looks as if she stepped off the pages of the comics. While I missed out on the SDCC multipack, I do hope that down the line they release her droids as part of this series and keep the "new" expanded universe figures coming.

Star Wars The Black Series Wish List

Wednesday I shared my wish list for The Vintage Collection line, today I would like to share my 5 figure wish list for The Black Series line. Unlike my previous list, this list is more of an eventually at some point in the line wish list vs the figures I would like to see hit the line at some point this year. The Black Series this year will see a ton of new offerings from both Episode IX and The Mandalorian hit at Force Friday in the fall, keeping this line pretty full.

Jedi Knights/Masters (Aayla Secura, Plo Koon, Kit Fisto, Ki-Adi-Mundi)

While we are seeing more figures from Attack of the Clones join the Black Series, I really am hoping that we will eventually see some of the Jedi Knights and Jedi Masters join this line. I'm going to be partial to Aayla Secura myself, but also would be really excited to see Plo Koon, Kit Fisto or Ki-Adi - Mundi join the 6" figure line. Also would look great for a Battle of Geonosis display.

Count Dooku

With General Gervious joining the line , one figure that I am really hoping for is Count Dooku. Being a fan of  the late Christopher Lee's work, he's one figure I have had on a wish list for sometime now. Come on Hasbro , "Do it"

Saw Gerrera

There are a lot of figures from Rogue One that I would like to see join this line, but I would have to say that Saw probably would have to be at the top of that list.Though he may have had not much on screen time during the film, he did however make an appearance on Star Wars Rebels. So it would be very cool to see him made into a 6" figure at some point down the line.

Force Spirit Yoda

While we did get an Spirit Obi Wan Keobi as a Walgreens exclusive awhile back, it would be nice to see this version of Yoda made. With his spirit form not only being in the end of Return Of The Jedi , but in The Last Jedi as well I really could see Hasbro making this figure (maybe they could keep it as a Walgreens exclusive as well).

Mara Jade

With the release of Jaina Solo for the Black Series line , I still am holding out hope that they continue to make Legends figures from the old EU. One in particular that I would like to see is Mara Jade. Mara Jade was an important character as well as a fan favorite in the old EU stories, so unless Disney puts her else where in their current universe it would be nice to see her get a 6" legends release.

That will about wrap up my wish list for the Black Series, Next Week I will count down the figures that I would like to see get an Archive Release. Feel free to share your thoughts on this list or post your own wish list for the Black Series line in the comments below.

Star Wars The Vintage Collection Wish List for 2019

So I have been wanting to write this article for sometime now and am finally getting around to actually writing it. As collectors we all have a wish list of figures that we would love to see Hasbro put out for their product lines (be it Star Wars, or Marvel). So this list serves as my wish list for 5 figures I would like to see join The Vintage Collection line(in no particular order). I am also including  my prediction of the likelihood of the figure happening (just my best guess based upon what figures are currently being announced for the line):

K-2SO

From Rouge One : A Star Wars Story, K-2SO is a figure that I would really like to see join The Vintage Collection line. We already have a Jyn, Cassian, Imperial Assault Tank Driver , Death Trooper, and the upcoming Rogue One Stormtrooper, so it would only make sense for them to flush out the Rogue One figures with some more of the main characters from the film.

Possibility: High

Qi'ra

From Solo A Star Wars Story Qi'ra is another figure that I would like to see translated from the 6" Black Series line to The Vintage Collection line. We have a Lando from solo coming out soon so honestly it wouldn't be too far fetched to see Qi'ra added to the line down the road.

Possibility: High

Dryden Vos

Another character from Solo A Star Wars Story I would like to see in The Vintage Collection line is Dryden Vos, With his release in the Black Series in the recent wave, It wouldn't be to unheard of for him to be scaled down for The Vintage Collection. Stormtrooper (Mimban) saw both a Black Series and a Vintage Collection release not too far a part.

Possibility : Fair

Star Wars Rebels

We have seen Ahsoka from The Clone Wars get a Vintage Collection figure release awhile back, so it would be nice to see each of the characters from Rebels join the line as well, even if it is as a multi-pack or even as a convention exclusive set down the road (I'm looking at you SDCC).

Possibility: Fair

Brainiac

Fans of Decipher's Star Wars Collectable Card Game will no doubt be familiar with him, those of us that played the game probably used his card at one point or another (it was a fun card). It would be a nice nod to the old card game, and the character itself as well as another figure to add to a cantina display.

Possibility: Low

That will about wrap up my list, I will be back Friday with my wish list for The Black Series for 2019. It will be nice to go back to this list and see which figures actually make it when Hasbro makes more of their reveals for this line throughout the year (possibly Celebration in April and SDCC in July).  Feel free to share what your wish list is for The Vintage Collection line in 2019 in the comments below.

Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary Fan Choice Figure Winner :

Today Hasbro announced on their Instagram page the winner of the 40th Anniversary Empire Strikes Back Fan Choice poll, Dagobah Luke Skywalker. Honestly, from the chatter and early votes that I saw online I really thought that Lobot or 2-1B was going to win the poll, but I am still ok with getting a Dagobah Luke. Maybe he will come with a backpack for the Black Series Yoda.

Anyways I really enjoyed the Star Wars 40th Anniversary figures when they came out in 2017, and since Empire Strikes Back happens to be my favorite Star Wars film, needless to say I'm very excited for these when they hit in 2020.Hopefully We will see more of the figures planned for this set at SDCC this year.

Recent Addition : TVC Stormtrooper (Mimban)

My most recent addition to my collection is the Walmart exclusive, The Vintage Collection Stormtrooper (Mimban) from Solo: A Star Wars Story. Our Walmart traditionally doesn’t get many of the exclusives right after they are released, but now that I have it in hand, I would say that it was well worth the wait!

These Stormtroopers were stationed on the war-ravaged, swamp planet of Mimban. One of the things that I really like about this figure is that it has the weathered effects of battle and debris of the gritty, swampy, muddy terrain of Mimban all caked on its stark white armor.  It just really makes the figure stand out so well. The figure comes with an attached cloth cape as featured in the film, a weathered blaster rifle (again these effects really just give the accessories so much oomph), and a sniper rile. Even though the helmets in the movie had the reinforced armor plating around the forehead, On the figure itself it just looks a little odd, but I could just be nitpicking.

Overall, I'm happy with adding the Stormtrooper to my Vintage Collection line. I see a lot of army builder collectors picking these up for their own Mimban diorama, as well as customizers to make battle worn Stormtroopers of their own. The Vintage Collection Mimban Stromtrooper is available now at your local Walmart.

Welccome To Docking Bay 77

Welcome to Docking Bay 77, a Star Wars collecting blog. So starting things off I wanted to share a little bit about myself and my Star Wars collecting background: My name is Rich and I have been a Star Wars collector for as long as I can remember. Growing up I had most of the original Kenner figures and playsets and have very fond memories of going to my local stores and picking up the next figure to add to that collection. So when Hasbro released their Power Of The Force figures in 1995, it was truly like a second childhood for me and I began my "in package" Star Wars collection and have pretty much been collecting ever since. It has been fun seeing Hasbro evolve these figures and the Star Wars line over the years, figures with more articulation, better sculpts for more movie accurate figures ,and figures on a slew of different scales. Star Wars collecting truly has been a fun hobby for me.

So I wanted to start a Star Wars collecting blog as a great way to share my thoughts, opinions, and adventures on Star Wars collecting, also I would love for it to serve as  a way to talk shop with other collectors around the world, and hear about their collecting tales, and thoughts and what they enjoy the most about collecting Star Wars.

I thank you for taking the time to read this blog and hope you enjoy the content on here, and look forward to talking shop with all of you!
